Newsletter privacy
Effective 7 October 2026
The short version of what happens to your address when you subscribe to Worca's release and product emails.
In short
- We store your address only to send the emails you chose.
- You confirm by email first. Nothing is sent until you do.
- Every email has a link to change what you get or unsubscribe in one click.
- After you unsubscribe, your address is erased within 30 days.
Who runs it
The newsletter is run by the Worca Development Community. Reach us at hello@worca.dev for anything about your data.
What we store
- Your email address, encrypted before it is stored, with a key of its own.
- Your choices: which release emails you want (major, minor, all stable releases, or everything including release candidates) and whether you want product news.
- Your consent: when you subscribed and confirmed, and where you signed up (for example the site footer).
- A keyed one-way hash of your address, so we can find your subscription and honour an unsubscribe or a bounce without storing the address in readable form.
Why, and on what basis
We use your address only to send the emails you asked for. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing; that doesn't affect emails already sent.
How long we keep it
- If you never confirm, your subscription is deleted after 30 days.
- If you unsubscribe, or your mailbox bounces or reports our email as spam, your address is erased 30 days later. Until then you can undo an unsubscribe from the link in any email.
- After that we keep only the keyed hash and the fact that the address unsubscribed, so we don't email it again by mistake.
Who helps us
- Cloudflare hosts worca.dev and the service that stores subscriptions.
- Resend delivers the emails. It receives your address and the email itself, nothing else.
We don't sell or share your address with anyone else, and we don't use it for advertising.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it: write to hello@worca.dev. You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as the one where you live.
Age
The newsletter is for people aged 16 or older.
